We’ve worked with hundreds of companies to radically increase both their traffic and their revenue, and the first place we always start is with a thorough audit of the site. And, almost without fail, we encounter one or more of the following problems:
- Too much low quality content
- Too little content
- Irrelevant content
- Cannibalizing content (too many overly similar or duplicate pages)
Having any of these can hurt your traffic, put off your visitors, and harm your overall brand image…none of which helps boost your traffic or revenue, which brings us to…
What the hell is a content audit, and why do I need one?
Both Google and humans LOVE rich, high-quality content, and all else being equal the site with the better content wins.
If you’re trying to rank well and pull in lots of traffic in a competitive space, the quality of your content is by far the easiest lever to pull. However, it’s never a good idea to just start churning out content…you need to go about it in a very deliberate, strategic way, and that’s where our content audits come in.
During a content audit, we set out to do market research, competitive research, and to create an effective content strategy. We so that by answering 4 key questions:
- What sort of content is performing well on Google today for your target niche?
- What content are people relevant to your niche searching for? What questions are they asking?
- What content do you have today, and out of that what should you keep as-is, improve, combine, or ditch?
- What sort of content should you create going forward, and where should it be posted?
To do this, we use over a dozen different tools to analyze your site, your top competitor’s sites, Google SERPs, and the audience you’re trying to target. We then take all that information and turn it into beautiful, hyper-specific documents to help you achieve your content goals.
How much is this going to cost me?
We charge a flat one-time fee of $5,000 for our content audits for sites under 1,000 pages, and $10,000 for sites over 1,000 pages.
All audits also include up to 2 hours of review and consulting time via phone, Skype, Google Hangout, etc.
For all of our audit and strategy services we require payment upfront before we begin any work. At this time we only accept electronic payment and will send our invoices via PayPal, which allows you to pay via credit card, debit card, E-Check or bank transfer (no PayPal account required).
How long will it take?
30 days from the date payment is received, guaranteed.
Can I see a sample?
Unfortunately, no. Each content audit is tailored specifically to the client; we don’t use a template for this, and it wouldn’t be possible to sufficiently obfuscate confidential details to share a redacted version.
Anything else I need to know?
Both Google and your customers are about to LOVE you 🙂
Also, in order to perform the most accurate audit possible, we will require access to your web analytics platform and Google Webmaster Tools. If access cannot be provided, our audit will not be as thorough as it otherwise would have been.
