SEO Content Writing That Doesn’t Suck 🤯

Let’s face it, most SEO content writing really is trash.

Why?

Because you need to write for people first, and search engines second (hint: keyword density is not a thing).

Because when you spend $0.05-$0.10 cents per word (or less), you get what you pay for…content that impresses neither searchers nor search engines.

Because a brilliant content writer needs to: research your industry, your target customer, your competitors, match your tone, write in an engaging way, integrate helpful visuals, understand SEO, and be not only an excellent writer, but an excellent editor as well.

Whew!

Basically, a top tier content writer is a rainbow unicorn…and as we all know, if it’s rare, and desirable, then it’s VALUABLE.

Rainbow Unicorn

Some folks think it’s their website that people are interacting with, their website that draws people in and compels them to buy…but it’s not.

At least not exactly.

OK, so maybe it’s the brand?

Sort of, but not quite.

It’s the EMOTIONS your brand/website make people feel and the VALUE you deliver that keeps them coming back.

But it all starts with the message you convey, which comes from the COPY on your website, your advertisements, and your social profiles.

It’s the COPY that ranks, the COPY that compels and converts.

Shitty copy = shitty (or no) customers. Or angry customers. Or disappointed customers.

Why?

Because logic doesn’t sell.

Emotion sells. And words convey emotion.

Weak words convey boredom, apathy, or even desperation.

Pushy words convey distrust, anger, or frustration.

But the right words?

Desire. Urgency. Curiosity. Trust.

Of course, copy comes in a variety of forms…

Copy to teach. Copy to sell. Copy to excite. Copy to make people 🤣, or 😁, or 😍.

Copy to build trust or excitement.

Copy that does all of the above.

And that’s where I come in.

I write content for your website that RANKSCONVERTS, and RETAINS.

So who the hell am I, and why should you have me write your content?

I’m a 20+ year online marketing industry veteran.

I’ve written content for hundreds of companies, from mom and pop shops and startups to Fortune 100 companies.

I’m the Content Wizard behind the curtain, and the chances are very, very good that you’ve read something I’ve written without even knowing it.

In addition to copy for clients, I’ve written a bestselling book.

I’ve written for Inc. and Entrepreneur.

And I’ve written, a lot, for myself:

Maybe, just maybe, if we’re both SUPER lucky, soon I’ll do a bit of writing for you. 😉

If you’re looking for cheap ass content from some 3rd world content mill, alas…go away, the wizard will not see you now, sorry not sorry.

You Shall Not Pass

If you want the best content, period, then Speak Friend and Enter 😁 (yes, I’m a total nerd).

Now, down to brass tacks.

I charge a flat rate of $0.42 per word with a 1,000 word per piece minimum (42, $420…maybe Elon Musk is my spirit animal 🤣).

This includes:

  • Discovery call for the project (we can keep it to email only if you prefer)
  • Review of project brief and editorial guidelines (if provided)
  • Detailed topic and keyword research
  • Competitor content review
  • Potential Title Proposal
  • Outlining
  • Writing
  • Images/Screenshots (Optional; CC0 images included in the price)
  • Editing
  • Proofreading
  • On-page SEO recommendations (URL, Title tag, Meta Description, H1s and H2s)

This also includes one round of light revisions.

So what does this work out to?

A 1,500 word blog post would run $630.

An 8,000 word pillar content beast like this one would be $3,360.

I have a project minimum of $1,000 (~2,400 words of content), and no maximum. I can turn around a 1,500 word blog post in 72 hours. An 8,000 word pillar content beast would take 2 weeks. I’ll quote a start date and delivery date for each project (contingent on receiving your completed project brief and payment).

A lot of folks ask, “How much content do we need?”

While there is no one size fits all answer, and it’s more about quality and a specific business or searcher need rather than quantity, a good cadence is 4-8 blog posts per month (1-2 posts per week). 1,500 words each is a good target, and at least one piece of 3,000+ word pillar content every quarter (though the exact amount needed will depend on the topic and competitive space).

A sample project might look something like this:

  • Month 1: 4 pieces of in-depth blog content (~1,500 words each) – $2,500
  • Month 2: 4 pieces of in-depth blog content (~1,500 words each) – $2,500
  • Month 3: 3 pieces of in-depth blog content (~1,500 words each) + 1 piece of pillar content (~5,000 words) = $4,000

Total Content Investment = $9,000 per quarter, $36,000 per year

I’ll custom tailor a project scope and pricing to your requirements of course, as there is no one size fits all in the content space!

For an additional fee, I can also help secure links to your newly minted content at a flat rate of $400 per link secured (I use a white-hat, outreach based system to acquire links from topically relevant sites).

For any one-off content writing project under $5,000, I require payment upfront. Over $5,000, it’s 50% upfront and 50% due on completion. For ongoing monthly engagements, payment is due upfront at the start of each month.

I always deliver, on-time, and have never had a complaint or a request for a refund. Happy to provide more writing samples upon request.

I have limited availability, but if you’re looking for THE BEST, let’s chat!
